EUMeTrain: Nowcasting CAL Module - Quantitative Nowcasting

There are two different kinds of possible evaluation in the output:

• The quantitative values which have different orders of magnitude for the different weather systems
• The qualitative appearance of the deviation images: Typical shapes and life cycles

For convective cells:
Values of deviation can be high and there is a typical shape and a life cycle.

In this example:
There are several white and black areas indicating new development and dissolution of cloud in the last ½ hour.
A: represents a convective cell in the most active stage of development still further growing upwards
B: represents a new developed convective cell; still under heavy growing
C: similar to A
