In this case, cyclogenesis started over Spain (another cyclone can be noticed over south Adriatic, but very soon it will move toward north-east and disappear - this cyclone is not important for our comparison). The structure of system can nice be recognized (26 Feb at 18 UTC) - the cloud bulge (over South Spain) and the cloud band of cold and warm front (over Mediterranean). Cyclone moved from Spain down to the Western Mediterranean further to the east in the westerly flow. From 27th of February, the strong Mistral appeared at the south coast of France. How the center of cyclone moved across the Mediterranean far to the east, the strong north-west wind appeared also at Corsica and Sardinia and over the sea between Sardinia and Balearic Islands. At the rare side of cyclone, over West Mediterranean, convective development can be notice.
