In the reality, the situation is never as ideal as in the sketches. In the following example you can see what the isentropes, relative humidity, wind and temperature advection look like in the cross sections across this real frontal system. Simply pick the cross-section you would like to see and you can look at the slideshow of the mentioned parameters for the chosen cross-section: Cross-section A-B Cross-section C-D Cross-section E-F Cross-section G-H Hopefully, it was made clear with these examples why the isentropes can be considered as a key feature in the cross-sections, especcially in recognizing frontal zones and also what the distribution of some parameters looks like in the vicinity of the frontal system.
