MSG IR10.8 imagery with temperature advection at 500 hPa: time sequence

The image of IR and the corresponding advection of temperature in 500 hPa reveals very clearly that the highest tops of convection (blue area, i.e. below -65°C) are near-by the maximum of positive thermal advection.

9th June 2004: 06UTC
The intensity of thermal advection decreased a little bit. However, at 06 UTC there was still a good correpsondence between the highest cloud tops and the maximum of advection.

9th June 2004: 12UTC
The intensity of thermal advection and of convection weakened.
